Options in Life

Let’s say a certain man is a Mac fanboy. He will always go out and buy a new Mac Book. But let’s say a man does not really care about the whole Mac vs PC debate. He might like Apple products because of their quality or style or whatever, but if his laptop gets stolen and money is a little tight, he will have no problem springing for a cheaper PC instead. That is because most people are only loyal to a preference as long as it is still convenient, and the moment the circumstances change

When Choices Matter

A man with a felony on his record will cling to the one decent job that he has and put up with a ton of shit to keep it. A skilled professional that is always getting offers from his company’s competitors may decline most of them, but if the atmosphere in his current place turns sour, or an offer too good to pass up comes up, he will walk. My point is that a man who has options, will exercise them when push comes to shove.

Career Or Relationship

And more importantly, he will exercise the options he has to compensate for the options he does not have. This is important to consider when it comes to relationships. As an example, lets compare the actions of two guys: both just out of college, both have a serious girlfriend but one who graduates a year later, both found one crappy job close buy and a good job across the country. It is easy to talk about commitment in the abstract, but when real tradeoffs show up, people reveal what they value

Player Advantage

The difference is one guy is your regular AFC, the other knows that he is good with women. Take a guess which one of them will sacrifice their relationship for the better job? Of course the player will. He did not have many options in the job market, but he has plenty of options in the dating market. Both a career and relationships may be important to him, but when push came to shove, he took the less risky route.
